What is the difference between Therapy and Intuitive Life Coaching?
Therapy is a traditional method for resolving emotions, past experiences, relationship issues and job/performance issues. Therapy is full of interventions and techniques that stem from well-researched theories and methods. This is what makes therapy different from a normal conversation. Therapy works well for experiences that correlate to mental health such as: anxiety, depression, phobias, mood disturbances, relationship conflict, addictions, etc.
Intuitive Life Coaching is rooted more in spiritual practices, energy work, and emphasizes spiritual and emotional healing. Intuitive Life Coaching uses the aids of non-traditional methods such as angel cards, energy exercises, and connecting to our inner sense of self. Intuitive Life Coaching brings the focus back to the client’s inner voice of guidance, and works well for finding one’s purpose in life, achieving abundance, and experiencing balance and peace. Coaching has a stronger element of involvement from the practitioner through forms of advice and guidance.
Are you accepting new clients?
It depends. It is absolutely vital that therapists and coaches work only within their skillset. During our initial phone consultation, I gather an understanding of what you are experiencing and if I am the best therapist and coach to support you. Sometimes this means that it is best that I help you find another provider who might specialize in what you’re experiencing. Once we establish if I’m the right fit for you, then we move forward in setting you up as a new client within the practice.
what age groups do you work with?
I currently only have openings for adults ages 18+
What happens iN SESSIONS?
What happens after the consultation will be up to you. I’m sure you have heard this before, but you will get out of therapy and coaching what you put into it. There will be sessions that feel full of major insights and “AH HA!” moments, and you will leave feeling refocused and full of energy. In the same way, there will be sessions that feel difficult as we talk about material that is distressing or uncomfortable. Those sessions might require a little more emotional processing, and in the time after the appointment and you might feel glum. I will always encourage you to push through resistance and difficulty to keep going, as the pivotal change moments often come soon after the difficult times.
The sessions will always feel relaxed, non judgemental, calm, and supportive.
how long are sessions?
Sessions are for 50 minutes. This is considered a “therapeutic hour” and is industry standard to allow time for notes, paperwork, or any special attention to any matter required at the end of your session. After 12 sessions we review your progress and make a plan to continue to work towards your goals or transition you out of treatment.
what if i cry a lot?
Crying is totally normal and fully welcomed! Crying is an important way for the body to process difficult and overwhelming emotions. You might find that you feel tearful throughout many sessions, and that is okay! After time, you will notice the tears come less often and balance is restored. I know it can be uncomfortable, but we learn many important insights from our tears and we begin to shift emotional monuments through crying, making it an important part of the therapeutic and coaching process.
what if I SAY something offensive?
Sessions are totally nonjudgemental. I assure you, I’ve heard it all and you your disclosures will not surprise nor rattle me! I will keep our therapeutic boundary and share that with you kindly and compassionately if I feel any crossing of that boundary. The majority of the boundaries you will find in the practice paperwork that describes the terms of engagement for the service. Sessions are are the space for you to explore your inner thoughts and experiences, sometimes you will want to curse or show emotions while in exploration and that is totally accepted and okay.
What does pre-licensed professional mean?
This means that I am nearly finished in completing the requirements for full licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Virginia. I have been approved by the board of Social Work within VA as a pre-licensed professional, and work weekly with my registered supervisor and mentor to ensure that my clients receive the best treatment possible. Clients are welcome to have my mentor’s contact information by request. My studies in England delayed my licensing process in the state of Virginia, which I consider to be a worthy sacrifice for the fantastic learning I received abroad. I am expected to complete the requirements for the LCSW by examination in early 2019.
Do you take Insurance?
Insurance is not accepted. At the end of the month I can provide you a statement that you may send to your insurance company to seek reimbursement for out of network benefits. The outcome of reimbursement is between you and your insurance provider.
Can we do online sessions?
Yes, when you book your session online, I will contact you with the information for how to join me in the confidential platform for video sessions.
what is the Payment Policy?
A card on file is required to reserve your appointment and full payment is due at the time of service.
what is the Booking Policy?
All bookings must be reserved using the online system. Due to the complex nature of keeping my calendar up to date for everyone, all sessions must be booked online using the “request appointment” button or your client portal. I am unable to schedule sessions by phone, in-person, or e-mail. However, you can always reach out should you have any questions or concerns.
New Clients: Please book an “10 Minute Initial Phone Consultation” appointment using the online calendar. After the phone consultation we will move forward with scheduling your first therapy or coaching appointment and setting you up as a new client within the practice.
what is the Refund & Cancellation Policy:
If for some reason I am unable to see you at your appointed time, you will have the option to reschedule or receive a full refund. If you need to cancel your appointment and do so within 24 hours of the appointment time, you will not be liable for any fees. To cancel or re-arrange session outside of the 24 hour time frame please e-mail me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. Late cancellations, No-Show's, and late beyond 20minutes to a session will be charged the full session rate. Please note that emergencies and medical emergencies may be an exception to this policy, documentation of emergency may be required.
